Richard Gore suggests that there's nothing old-fashioned about Yiddish song! And the humour that Richard and David Gordon inject into this song Dire Gelt - Rent Money proves that point. Watch their performance of Dire Gelt - Rent Money here.
This song is by Zupfgeigenhansel and was made popular in a Yiddish cabaret performed by Ovadia called Oylem Goylem. Dire Gelt was also used as the name for a klezmer band that was formed when there was a resurgence of interest in klezmer music in the 1980's.
